Rebecca Wagner

Rebecca is a former professional dancer with the Royal New Zealand Ballet and is a Registered Teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance.

Born and raised in Toowoomba, she commenced her dance training with RAD International Grade Examiner Dale Coles. Rebecca was one of the first interstate associates with the Australian Ballet School. Rebecca holds a Diploma in Dance at Dance World 301, Melbourne and a Diploma in Dance Performance at the NZ School of Dance, Wellington NZ. On graduation Rebecca was a recipient of the prestigious Todd Scholarship and joined the Royal New Zealand Ballet dancing professionally, performing both nationally and internationally in many contemporary works and classical ballets.

At the completion of an Honours Degree in Dance Education (UK) and two children later, Rebecca opened Balance Dance School in July 2011 in Bulimba, Brisbane – a unique boutique dance school.

1. This competition is exclusively for amateur dancers and professionals are not eligible to participate.
   
2. The organizers reserve the right to merge or split competition categories.
   
3. Participants are limited to one entry each in the Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, and Contemporary categories, but multiple entries are allowed in the "Any Other Dance" category.
   
4. Listed dance styles (e.g. Ballet, Jazz) are not permitted in the "Any Other Dance" category. Tap is excluded from this rule and may enter "Any Other Dance".
   
5. The competition will close either when all available spots are filled or on the closing date, and no late entries will be accepted.
   
6. Participants perform at their own risk and the organizers are not responsible for any injury or loss of personal items.
   
7. All entries are non-refundable, and transferring to another competition is subject to the discretion of the organizers and may incur a transfer fee.
   
8. In the event of cancellation (e.g. due to Covid-19), the competition will be postponed to a later date, and no refunds will be given.
   
9. Participants must check in prior to their performance and those who do not check in before a category starts will forfeit their performance in that category.
   
10. No rehearsals are allowed in the auditorium or on the stage.
    
11. Photography and videography are prohibited during the competition.
    
12. The maximum number of tricks allowed in any dance is 3, with a trick defined as any move where the hips pass above the shoulders.
    
13. Acrobatic and gymnastic techniques will not be used to judge dance technique in any category except for the "Acrobatic Solo" in "Any Other Dance".
    
14. Props are allowed, but the performer is responsible for their own prop, including bringing it on and off the stage.
    
15. Food and drink are not allowed in the auditorium.
    
16. Costumes, choreography, and music lyrics must be appropriate for a family audience.
    
17. The maximum time limit for solo, duo, and trio performances is 3 minutes.
    
18. Appropriate language: All attendees must use language that is respectful and appropriate for a family-friendly event. Any use of inappropriate or offensive language will not be tolerated and may result in disqualification from the competition.
